New Owner Lays It Out There
Hey there, this is Max Davis. I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Ben has sold his amazing website and many of you are interested to see what is going to happen next. I’ve read the comments from everyone asking who the new owner is, what’s the future of Blogging Experiment, etc, so this post will hopefully answer those questions…
First, a little about me…
I am an entrepreneur who has been making a full time income online over the last 5 years. I specialize in search engine optimization, pay per click marketing, monetizing websites and traffic generation strategies.
My partner (who actually purchased this website) and I work together on projects that we think have lots of potential. He tends to lay low, out of the spotlight, but he specializes in buying and selling websites. I take the websites he purchases to the next level.
For example, the last website we worked on, we purchased for under $10,000, and less than 14 months later, we sold the same website for $575,000. We’ve also started websites from scratch and sold them a year later for $100k and another for $55k. That’s what we’ve been working on over the last 2 years.
I’m not saying this to brag, I just want to let you know that Blogging Experiment is in good hands ; )
This is our first project in the “make money” market. All of our other sites have been in REAL niche markets, selling REAL products to REAL people.
In fact, up until 5 days ago, I’ve never even heard of John Chow, Steve Pavlina, Darren Rowse, or any of those guys. Is that a bad thing? I don’t know them so I can’t judge. In reality, I’m probably more like you than any big guru. I don’t have any advantages because I hang with the “big dogs”.
You might find it interesting that I was actually a cable man working for $8.50 per hour just six years ago (I quit that job on March 18, 2002). Fast forward 5 years later, and in 2007, where I made well over half a million dollars online. Amazing how fast life can change, hopefully I help you do the same thing with your life through this website…
I have some big ideas for Blogging Experiment, so I hope you stick around to see what’s in store. We’ve asked Ben to stick around for at least another few months, which he agreed. So aside from my tidbits of wisdom, you get more great content from “the man” himself.
I’ve spent the last 3 days researching all the other make money blogs out there to see what I’m up against. I did see a few great websites with valuable content (like Caroline’s, Bill’s, and Mike’s sites and a couple others, sorry if I didn’t list you here).
But the other thing I noticed is there are a lot more sites in this niche that are not so great. I won’t name names here, but I’m sure you know who they are. Some of these sites just write rehashed nonsense they read from someone else’s blog yesterday. Some of these sites try every trick in the book to squeeze pennies out of their visitors, which I find pretty annoying. They are more like flashing billboards in your face than a valuable resource.
That’s not my style…
Here’s how this blog is going to change over the next few weeks, months, years…
BloggingExperiment.com is about making money online. But, it IS NOT ABOUT ME making money online, it’s about YOU MAKING MONEY. Who cares if I make $30,000 per month with this website? That doesn’t help you, does it?
Sure, I’ll be monetizing the site in a few ways, but nothing like the annoying methods I’ve seen on other sites. We do have a significant investment in this website to recoup, so this blog will eventually have to make a few bucks ?
First, I feel the need to “prove myself” to you by providing enormous amounts of value, which is exactly what I’ll be doing. But at the same time, I don’t want to bore you with just money making lessons like some college course (I hated school). That’s why I’m going to have lots of interactive games and contests to keep things exciting.
You may be surprised to see the changes that will be made, and I’ll be sharing with you the reasons I made these changes in future posts. Some of the major changes to come are:
– Removing the 125 x 125 blog ads.
– No more “paid reviews”.
– Some layout changes.
– Adding lots of contests giving away REAL prizes & cash.
– Paying YOU for simply reading the blog.
One of my first lessons, if you want to call them that, is probably the number one reason I see people fail to make money online…copying other people rather than innovating. (another reason why I’m removing a lot of the “copied” techniques from this site)…
I wonder how long it will be before THIS site starts getting copied??? We’ll see I guess.
So, that’s a little bit about me and my plan for Blogging Experiment. Of course this plan can change based on what you would like to see on this site. I’d love to hear your “vision” for this site, so send me your ideas and I’ll try my best to make it happen…
Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions/concerns for me or to just say hi.
