My Comment Policy

As this blog continues to grow, I expect the number of comments left to increase as well. While moderating the current level of comments isn’t much of a hassle, I think it would be wise to lay the groundwork for when it reaches that level. So, to that end, I’m going to lay out my official and yet fairly simple comment policy.

  • First and foremost, if your comment is not providing anything of value, it will likely be deleted. Comments such as “Nice!” or “Great post” are simply not necessary and don’t improve the conversation in any way. This one rule will probably take care of most issues but just in case, there are a few more as well.
  • No comment signatures containing links will be allowed. You are allowed to link your name to your site already, an extra link simply takes up space and is one more thing for me to check out.
  • Links to adult sites or sites with questionable content will be deleted. This includes any site I determine to be spam. I realize any links placed in comments is no followed but I value my readers and their time and I don’t want them wasting that time on useless or trashy sites.
  • Last but not least, only comments left in English will be accepted. I have nothing against other languages, in fact at some point I hope to learn a couple myself. However, as of right now, I only speak and read English and therefore would not be able to vouch for the content of non-English comments or sites.

So, there you have it ladies and gents, Blogging Experiment’s official comment policy. Like I said, it won’t change the way comments work much right now, but as we continue to grow and attract new commentators, I think this will help streamline the process. Thanks, and have a great weekend everyone!

Oh, I almost forgot, if you have a question you’d like answered in Monday’s Reader Question Session, drop it in a comment or an email to me and I’ll add it to the list. I think we already have a couple submissions but it’s always nice to have lots of options. So ask away!
