@Josh, I take all sponsored reviews - even those from sources I trust - with a grain of salt. But the fact is that I do that with unsponsored reviews as well.

In my opinion, it's the whole package that counts. A great blog will make me give a bit more cred to the reviews (paid or not). On the other hand too many reviews, reviews that read like PR copy or reviews (positive or negative) that all sound alike will lower my opinion of the blog.

Hey Ben, this isn't to "bash" you, you publish some good content from what I've seen, but I believe sponsored reviews can greatly take from the value and credibility of a blog. On the same token, they can provide value and build a strong, honest reputation.

I think the 2 most important factors in doing paid reviews are 1. staying on topic and 2. giving honest reviews. I don't believe in taking money for a review then completely bashing a site/service, but I don't think it should be required that it be 100% positive either.

Those who do sponsored reviews and go by those two things, I believe, increase the quality of their blog and make a few extra bucks as well.

Ben, it seems like SR is really a good program that is working for you. Now I do understand it's hard to get people to purchase the reviews and therefore you use SR.

I guess there's good things and bad. SR protects you from scams i guess.

@ Adam, no most don't counter offer. Most just accept or reject. I've found that it can be helpful to come down off your posted price though. For example, if you want to make $50 per review, I'd put your listed price around 100 or so and then give them a "deal" of like $75 or whatever it is that means you make the $50 that you were shooting for. Also I've found that highlighting the stats of your blog in your description helps more than telling what your blog is about. Shoot this could probably be a post all by itself lol. Anyway, I hope that helps you. I definitely like SR much better than PPP and it's been a LOT more profitable for me as well.

Hey Ben

I hadn't heard of SR before you started posting about them. I signed up, was accepted within a day and started bidding. Do most people counter bid? Whats the best bidding practices? I've used PPP for a while and found that most of their offers were just spammy and didn't really relate to my blog. SR seems to have more quality advertisers so I'm hoping I can switch over to them fully.

It seems to me that there is a difference between best practices and required practices (or for that matter terms of service). Maybe SR needs to get a dictionary.

@ bmunch, it can sometimes take a while to have your bids approve but once you write the post and publish it, the approval of that is an automated process.

@ Ruchir, that seems like a reasonable request and something they should be doing. That stinks!

@ Shane, I have used them and haven't had much success at all. I've done a few reviews for them but I rarely get requests for it. Plus, and this is a major selling point that I can't believe I forgot to include, SponsoredReviews keeps 15% less than ReviewMe. That's a big difference and tips the scales even further in favor of SR.

I've always had a lot of success with ReviewMe. Have you used them? If so, how do they compare to SR?
