I definitely think you can overdo it, and it does help if the person is well known in your niche or industry, but simply amassing a LOT of responses can be interesting as well. I mean look at the coverage new studies or surveys get. I have no idea who or how many bloggers participated in the Goodmine study but I’ll definitely be interested in seeing what kind of results they found (if they publish them).

Caroline’s right. While it may be good for getting a link or two, an interview really only works as content if the person is interesting, involved with a timely issue or has something important to say. That’s why I skip over most interviews (even the ones where I’m being interviewed!).

There’s a limit to how far you can take these kinds of posts though. It’s like the whole contest thing – a few here and there is fine but when every blog int he field starts having one it just gets old. If every blogger now starts interviewing each other it will just be silly. Still, I was in that interview too so that’s cool

That is great. I love the idea of writing for others or vice-versa. When I do what I call a full post (not just a quick news or press release post), I spend a great deal of time doing research and making the content accurate and complete.

It does take time to do this, and it is “work”, but it is enjoyable and it certainly is not brain surgery. Good luck, Scott

For everyone who’s just starting out in the blogging world I highly suggest doing something like this. It not only brings people to your site but it also helps you grow an email list of bloggers. It also lets other bloggers know that you’re here.

Tomorrow I’m going to go through the statistics of today and how this post affected my stats.

Neil, I’d agree. I’ve subscribed to his blog and bookmarked a couple of other articles as well. I definitely think it’s got a lot of potential. And I mean really, how difficult is that to do? I’d bet everyone reading this could accumulate something similar for their industry or niche.
