Great blog post you cover a lot of great techniques for beginners. I like the design of your website too. All beginners, and intermediate Internet marketers need to realize that the money is in the list the sooner you get an Email list up and running the faster you can create a full time income.

Nice work! Clearly explained the process of finding, targeting and generating a market and building an income.

I am in the early stages of working out what does and doesn’t work building a (semi) passive online income. You blog is inspiration- I’ll be interested to see if you build a full-time income from it- cheers.

Wonderful, well written article. There are a lot of factors that go into producing money from the web, and many people just starting out tend to overlook them. Once people figure out that there is a reason behind each dollar that comes into their site, they will begin to figure out how to make it happen more often.

Excellent post. I think many times people think if they put up a website and drive the traffic to it, they will just make sales. What they fail to think about is exactly who they are driving to the site, what they want them to do when they get there, and then how they will make sure they are getting the most bang for their buck (best ROI). This post definitley gives them a jumping off point.

Hey Ben, another great article. I totally agree with “track everything”, it may not seem extremely important when you’re starting out and have little traffic, bu later down the road it is one of your most important tools. Seeing the numbers and graphs allows you to make small adjustments to increase your revenue. Google Analytics is free and great for this. Thanks again,

This is a great description/analogy of the sales model. Too many times we get caught up in the tasks of selling and forget to step back and look at the entire process. By examining the entire sales funnel, we can see where the problems are occurring and the opportunities exists. Great post.

I agree with much of the advice except for the reality of tracking and changing messages. Most new blogs just don’t get enough traffic to make good statistically significant decisions about messages and outcomes.

The other trend I’ve noticed is that just because a message didn’t work before, doesn’t mean it won’t in the future. Rather than give up on a marketing message, save it for the future and test it again.

I’ve never had much luck with the Amazon model but selling site ads works great.
