I just received this email from Text Link Ads.
Benjamin,
As a Text Link Ads affiliate we’re pleased to let you know that we’ve
begun using tinyurl.com to shorten and secure our affiliate referral
links. We encourage you to update your affiliate links using the
following:
The move I’m sure is designed to make it even more difficult for search engines like Google to detect paid links and devalue or punish sites that are affiliated with companies that sell those links. Tinyurl is used by countless sites and companies so it’s going to be a lot tougher for Google to sniff things out. As an affiliate and publisher, I’m all for it!
Apparently webmasters have a week to switch their links over so be sure you don’t wait too long. If you’re not a Text Link Ads affiliate, what the heck are you waiting for? Sign up to sell links, and even if they don’t accept your site into their inventory, you’ll still be placed in their affiliate program which pays $25.00 per signup (of either publishers or advertisers) and is so far this site’s leading money maker.

1I received the same email. Smart move on TLA’s part.
Have you had a chance to check out Michael Gray’s presentation about the “evil” G? He uploaded the Powerpoint to his blog over at wolf-howl.com

2Paul, I downloaded it and I couldn’t agree more. Google and I go way back in my SEO days and let’s just say I’m not a fan of their monetized side.
