Thank you for this really good topic. I find it useful.
Offline promotion does help. I’ve been doing it myself from time to time and it gets me decent traffic but somebody rightly said oer here that the expenses are too high for a little reward .

Nope, I’ve never picked up a pen (a cheap one at that) and wanted to give the losers a call.

I do however, get a warm feeling when I see a sponsored event of some sort targeting me with free stuff/information.

My blog is not as serious as you guys, when I do get “out there” to promote, I’m really thinking about wearing a t-shirt with my blog on it to the “regular” places that MY readers are. People are still nosey enough to read your t-shirt.

I think car ads rule. The back window ads are best. The side door ads look a little cheap.

I was thinking of printing a few stickers with our logo and url and doing a little guerrilla marketing. Has anyone had any success with this?

Offline promoting seems to be the only strategy these days to market a new blog out successfully. There are way too many blogs…

Terry Tay. Regards the Forex Affiliate Convention in Vegas, it is the first so not sure how big it will be. However what I can tell you is some of the biggest super affiliates will be there. The reason is because the person organizing it is Marc Lesnick. Marc puts on the biggest Casino Affiliate convention on the planet. He is just getting back from Moscow.

The thing is several of the Casino super affiliates wanted him to do this convention. So I know some huge hitters will be there, I am talking 7 figure guys. I have known Marc for about 9 years and he figures Forex is the next Casino money maker. You may have noticed HUGE reduction in Casino marketing due to US law. Well these heavy hitters are looking for the next big affiliate market.

Click on my name, I put in a link to the Casino Affiliate Convention that just occured, see the video. In Amsterdam 2007 he claims around 200 SUPER AFFILIATES attended, thats guys making min of 6 figure incomes.

Anyway the point is its a great place to find some serious marketers. And if anybody goes hook up with me.

And take Max’s Buying/Selling Websites, I assure you its worth every penny. (That was a free ad for Max, he really did give a ton on the first course)

THe Vegas conferences and conventions can be quite fun too especially the after parties.

Great post about off-line promotion of your blog. Attending conventions is really key as it connects us with like-minded people. And talk about great source for setting up a mastermind group.

I am very new to this blogging experience but see it as a great marketing tool for affiliate programs.

If any of you are in the Vegas area I will be speaking at the 1st Forex Affiliate Conference 25-26th July, look me up.

Meeting people offline where I mention my internet business works for me where I find potential clients or make friends with offline business owners.

But advertising offline with leaflets, posters, classifieds, door to door selling and a display at a computer fair did not work. Far too much effort and expense for little reward and a ton of rejection.

I like the idea of giving away promotional items to visitors to a blog. The recipient will then wear it or display to friends etc.

Sponsoring events such as a school sports day could be a good idea for a local community site.

I think Market Leverage has done a pretty good job with giving away stuff which in turn brings them more exposure offline as well as online when the bloggers post about the stuff they got.

@Jake, I haven’t posted in quite a while. The url is SEOrefugee.com. We have a forum that’s fairly active, you might check that out. I’ve just been kind of burned out on SEO blogging for a while. There’s a lot of echo in that niche. I might go back to it at some point but who knows.
