I’ve been working from home for some time now and it really is possible to make a great income. In order to find something that is legitimate, you must first understand what you are looking for (e.g. work or business opportunity).

Most online work requires you to have some sort of specialized technical skill sets. You should never pay to start an online job. Any site that requires you to pay to work is definitely a scam. On the other hand, if you are not technically qualified for most online jobs, then your best bet is starting your own home based business. Starting a business does require up front cost.

The quickest way I know to make some extra cash is by selling stuff on ebay or searching craiglist for work- these are normally only short-term fixes. I’ve tried them both and lost interest very quickly.

I will have to respectfully disagree with you here, Max. The great thing about the Internet is that anyone can start an online business with nothing more than free knowledge and even a free website. While it would probably be a good idea to invest in at least a domain name and hosting as soon as you can afford it, it’s not absolutely necessary. The only thing you really need to get started is a willingness to learn and the desire to succeed.

well, I must say, good points. I never really thought about it, being it ecommerce and more recently affiliate marketing, but you can fail at a couple of online businesses before it costs as much as brink and mortar.

I’ve been running my online business for 3 years now, the journey hasnt been smooth sailing but I’m proud to say that every minute and effort put in has been well justified. I believe internet marketing is a skill that can be learnt as long as one is willing to put in adequate hardwork.

Maybe most people need to get over the initial hurdle of making at least some money online?

In this respect, I think Adsense is the best option. If they can’t make a profit with that then, yes, they should stay in a JOB or work for us.

I really think that the best way for someone to start off in the internet marketing niche is through affiliate programs. And the one being the best I think by far is the build a niche store and ebay.

From all the research that I have done looking for the best solution to earn a second income online was with the build a niche store. Their are so many positive information out there about this software and using ebay. I know you have posted here about it before and it shows even more proof that it is a good program for beginners allowing people to make money and also learn SEO and how online marketing works. Just think of 100 sites creating 1 dollar a day. That would be around 36k a year.

Now I dont know anyone that would say no to that unless they are already successful doing something else online.

Max, I think that most people here are interested in just making money now so that they could build it into something bigger like flipping websites. I noticed in the comments on your BANS post that its very active and people are still looking for info on how to build the BANS business.

Maybe you could do a post for the people that are trying out the BANS software on what to do once they have a niche and site going. Meaning how to get anchor links etc to help build traffic. People also must know about the good sandbox that you cant get away from unless you buy a older preowned domain name.

Anyway I thought it would be good to follow up more with the BANS since you have a lot of readers that are following what you said before.

I would say a lot more people are looking forward to starting some type of business online rather than at a B&M location. The perceptions are all wrong and people don’t realize that it is more difficult than it looks.
