WOW it sounds like your designer led you down the garden path a bit! I’d never used WordPress before this year, and I had absolutely no trouble getting started.

The only thing I can say to you about customising your site is to make sure you set up child themes (for templates and css) – that way you can customise away without changing the original core files. I learned this lesson the hard way. Thankfully it was on my own site before it was released! The more experience you have the easier it will be!

I’m relatively new to using WordPress (but have been building websites for a really long time!). There was so much to choose from, but your review (and everyone’s comments) helped me to choose Elegant Themes. I think they’re great – and easy to customise and excellent value for the money. I’m currently using two different themes, but have more sites in development using other ones.

Pretty cool review, this is what made go for it as I really wasn’t expecting to buy a theme.

I need to learn now how to customize the themes more but hands down, this is the best way to build really pro looking websites for next to nothing..

Alexis, do you have any tips on how to customize them “easily”?

Hey Alexis,

This would be a question best asked in the Elegant Themes forum. My hunch is that you probably “could” do it (especially since they are all powered by the same development framework) but you may run into a series of issues trying to get it all to work right…again…just a guess, but Nick and his team would be the best to ask for a more specific answer

Do you know if code from one theme can be used in another? I want to build the affiliate integration, custom ratings widget, and advanced author ratings from the InReview theme into the eStore theme. Is this possible? I’m a coding novice.

Hi Mark, nice website.

Well, from my experience with Elegant Themes, I can say they’re not good for SEO, also the themes run slow.

However their designs are so beautiful.

Thanks for your comment. You named some good themes, however at the end of the day Elegant Themes is still my absolute favorite all-around choice in WordPress Themes! You can’t get a better deal.
