Posted by Ben Cook as WordPress Plugins
I’m not usually one to repost content that I’ve seen on other blogs but I’m making an exception in this case. Graywolf of wolf-howl.com published a post yesterday about a new plugin and after checking it out, I knew I’d have to share it with my readers. It immediately jumped into my list of “Must Have” plugins and is, in my opinion one of the coolest plugins out there.
The plugin is called PhotoDropper and it allows you to add Flickr images and photos to your blog posts with just a single click of your mouse. Not only that, it also generates the proper attribution for the photo as well. Installation is as easy as you could ask for. Simply upload the folder, activate the plugin, and you’re off and running. The next time you find yourself writing or editing a post or page, you’ll notice a search box under the content area and all you do is type in the word or phrase describing the image and hit submit. The plugin then pulls up a selection of images and gives you the option of adding any image in the small, medium, or large sizes to your blog.
If you’re looking for a picture of a fast car, the kind that seems so popular in the make money online niche, simply type ferrari in the search box, find the image you like (they pull up right inside your WordPress admin panel), click the size you want, and viola:

I think you get the point. Basically, this is, as the site says “the easiest way to add photos to your blog. Period.”

1Hey! I’m a subscriber, trying to get started at making some money from blogging. I would like to go back to the beginning of your journey and read the posts, but there are no links stringing the posts together. I’m currently jumping through a lot of hoops to get from post to post in order. Can you put in a chain link, of sorts, to make it possible for newbies to get caught up on your efforts?

2Very cool - Do you know of a good way to integrate an image gallery into WP? Or maybe that’s a question for Wordpress Wednesdays…

3Thanks Ben.
I don’t use as many images in my post as I should because it can be such a pain. That’s not a good excuse for not doing but it’s the best one I got.
I am going to give this plug-in a try. If it does as great a job as you say I will be extremely happy and you will be my new best friend.

4@ Justin, Absolutely! Thanks for the suggestion, I’m not real sure why I haven’t done something like it before now. I’ll get on it this weekend while we’re making other changes.
@ Jason, what do you mean an image gallery? do you have any examples you can give me? I know there are some good plugins for photoblogs but I’m not quite sure which one to direct you to.
@ James, it really is that easy and it’s fantastic. Problogger and Wolf-Howl are definitely my blogging heroes for the week.

5Ben I installed the plugin last night, but didn’t have a chance to look at it too much. One question I had was how can you set the size of the images other than small, medium. large.
Is it easy to adjust the width and height in px if you want? Are you stuck with the defaults?

6@ Steven, once the images are in, they act just like any other image with the height and width controls etc.

9Thanks Ben. I had a feeling that’s all I needed to do, but it’s good to have confirmation.

10Nice plugin but I doubt I’ll use it since I post through Windows Live Writer. Still, I might use it to search Flickr quickly.
