If you bare in mind that a studio hour of a designers time will cost on average $90 you can see how a logo can cost more than $1000. Fulfilment of a logo so it is set for web and print can take an hour, researching and understanding the brief will take an hour, if you are freelance bringing in the work and invoicing it can take an hour. Before even starting on the logo 3 hours have gone. Now unless you want a designer to spend an hour or so to design and develop a number of concepts for you then expect to pay more than $500. But all thinks said it is economies of scale and a start up business you have to keep things relative but as you’d expect other people to understand the prices you charge, you must understand theres. Spending substantial money on a logo is not plain ridiculous. It is the identity that from the offset represents everything you are oping to achieve with your company. Its the face of your company and lets be honest the good looking people always get more attention!

Nice Article. The problem with customers asking for dirt cheap price are due to ignorant free lancer who did a previous crappy job for $100. I really do not understand how a customers expect $100 for a logo design when the office rent for a company costs more then that a day. I think those freelancer who hope to make it in this industry should really start thinking what is the impact they have created and what lies ahead for them.

Definitely the better graphic designer you get to make the logo, the more expensive it will be. There are also programs available where you can create your own logo. This could be especially cheap for you if you know how to make one.

It is a rip off of Microsoft office and sometimes you are better paying to make sure you don’t fall foul of someone’s IP. Most big companies have lawyers who will follow you up if you do! Spend a reasonable amount and do it properly – and don’t forget to register it if you really love your logo or you might find they repurpose elements of it for somebody else!

I think there is no universal price that could be paid for a logo. I’d say 10$ is enough but then I you showed me a logo that I’d fall in love with I migth be willing to pay lots;)).

Ohh and yea … The logos that you got for 20 $ BE SURE THEY ARE NOT ORIGINAL IN ANY WAY AND THERE IS A 100% CHANCE THAT ITS USED BY SOMEBODY ELSE… SO CUT THE CRAP WITH YOUR 20$ – 300 $ LOGOS ….if you want something original you will have to pay big bucks if not stick to your indian friends …

“India designers and excellent and at low rates” excellent = 0 . I have a 2 years experience with those designers and all they ever do is copy other peoples logos or modified them . So in my opinion indian sucks

i think designers are highly under rated… not a lot of people understand what kind of hard work truly goes into making an unforgettable logo, a professional logo.
