Deadly SEO Mistakes (7 of Them)

I just got done going through this Free Advanced SEO Course, and I’ve got some work to do! In this latest series of videos and reports, Jerry West covers 7 deadly SEO mistakes that you should avoid at all cost. Here are a three of them:

  1. Using Untested Keywords (why most keywords you’ll target will suck…literally suck the profits away from you – side note: check out The Keyword Academy if you’re interested in learning the ins and outs of GOOD keyword research)
  2. Badly Written Page Titles (learn how to make the SEO title tag more appealing than the Adwords ad – and it’s free)
  3. Link Building Boo-Boos (most link building techniques don’t work, he shows you which links matter)

There’s 4 more, but you’ll have to watch the video series to see what they are.

Next, they provide 3 amazing videos covering very specific, actionable SEO techniques that the power players use to dominate any niche in any market. The best part, it’s all completely free.

  1. Absolutely spot on with these 3. Especially on the topic of link building

  2. I just want to know what are the top most common mistakes committed by search engine optimizers?

  3. I didn’t really think there was a “wrong” way to use keywords, but I guess I was wrong. The only thing that stops me now is the time consumption this may take.

  4. Keywords are most important for site so, choose proper keywords for your business/site. Nice video and thanks for information about 7 deadly seo mistakes.

  5. I will have to check this out. Thanks

  6. The first mistake that comes to mind is overuse of keywords in articles, blogs, etc. The search engines will immediately regard this as spam and your web page rank will take a big hit.

  7. Another mistake is posting the exact same article in several different directories. The search engines will pick up on this and there goes your page rank through the roof again.

  8. I think that is really good post and tips are shown here really are big mistakes in SEO especially the first one about untested keywords.

  9. Proper keyword research is of cardinal importance, whether you’re doing Adwords or trying to rank for a given keyword / keyphrase. Working at ranking #1 for something obscure that doesn’t attract any traffic hardly is a good expenditure of energy….

  10. @ Cat Behaviour – One of the deadliest SEO mistakes you can comit is to go for a paid for links package. You will regret doing that, believe you me.

  16. The search engines will pick up on this and there goes your page rank through the roof again.

  17. There are so many different reasons for your site being listed or not. Good SEO today may not be the best SEO tomorrow. That is why the big guys have to keep on changing their sites to keep them on top.

  18. This 3 SEO mistakes should be the major 1, targeting the wrong keyword is really killing people and wasting a lot of times in optimizing. Also, link exchange no more working in Web2.0, so I believe that article marketing will be one of the way to get more quality one-way backlinks.

  29. All seven point is very useful from seo point of view, but I like your first point i agree, I was doing so many mistake at the time of keyword selection process, but with the help of this I really understood how much keywords should we take instead of targeting all at one time. ‘The Keyword Academy’ link also very informative.

  30. I have bookmarked this post; everyone should understand the basic thing while doing seo and above give points is very useful for seo.

  31. Keyword research is not always easy. What tools do you recommend aside from Google’s that actually show really accurate “supply side” stats? You know, the saturation before entering into a market that you practically stand no chance it versus one where there is lots of traffic and there are little sites in? I initially used Site Build It;s tools…any others out there do this?

  32. Today, the only true safe SEO technique that Google approves of is to develop content that generates natural in bound links. The 3 you mentioned were important for sure though as they do agree with what I just said.
