Blogging Experiment

Buying & Selling Websites 2.0

I promise I’m still here. This has been an incredibly busy (but in a good way) time for both Blogging Experiment and our popular training program: Buying & Selling Websites. While the Blogging Experiment design should most likely be finished within the next week, I wanted to let you all know a little about the other “project” that has been taking up so much of my time recently.

Buying & Selling Websites has been a very popular, helpful resource for those wanting to learn about the art of buying and selling websites. There has always been a real lack of good training for those interested in purchasing a website, sell an existing one, and answer all the questions in between.

BASW was put together to address the who, what, when, where, and how to an industry literally begging for quality information on the topic. We’ve received rave reviews from our members, and I’m excited to announce that we’ve only just begun.

In the coming months, BASW is going to be revamped with even more material, videos, and training so we can continue to be on the cutting edge of all things related to Buying & Selling Websites. With these new additions, we wanted to give the site a brand new look, and I wanted to share it with you today.

Admitedly, this may not be the final design, but it’s the direction I’m leaning, and I wanted to share it with you. For those of you who haven’t joined, now is the time. Due to the nature of the content we provide, and the fact that we even had one student tell us he would have gladly paid $2000+ for the material (that was great to hear), we are going to be raising the price of the training back to around its original pricepoint (but not anywhere near $2,000 so don’t worry – even though it is worth that many times over we want it to be reasonable enough for the “average joe” to be able to participate).

So for the next 30-60 days, you’ll be able to get the entire training + ALL the new material (when it is released) for the insanely low price of $99. This wasn’t meant to be a sales ptich, but as I started writing about the new design, I got excited with thinking about how great the new material will be. If you want to be “grandfathered” in at the $99 level, I suggest you join soon. Obviously, this is not a “You have to join by midnight tonight.” We’re not going to officially launch this for a couple months – and the $99 will be in tact until then – but it would be a great time to get your feet wet with the content and videos we already have and browse through our mastermind forum.

So here is a preview of the new design (click here to enlarge). Let me know what you think. And for those considering joining our BASW Community, let me encourage you to take that step. We’re passionate about this material, and we look forward to proving it to you!

BASW

August 10, 2009 Update: It’s been a couple months since we posted first design idea for BASW, and we appreciate the positive feedback and the many, many new customers we’ve received as a result. To keep you current on the latest “goings on” at BASW, I wanted to show you what WILL BE the final design for the new BASW.

Since we’re adding new content and reshooting/updating the current content, we don’t have a firm date on when BASW 2.0 will be released, but one thing we know for certain is that the price will be higher than the $99 price point it is now. If you join now, however, you will be grandfathered in, and all of the new content, material, and training will be included at no additional charge. Just because we’re updating and adding material does not take away from the fact that this is still remarkable, relevant, current, and meaningful training, which customers from all over the world can attest to. We’re just going to make it even greater. The picture is a little fuzzy, but this will give you an idea of the final design. Click to enlarge.

What a great concept for earning money online. I know of many people who are interested in this sort of thing, but are hesitant due to the complexities of conducting transactions over the web. A course that could show them the ins and outs would make them feel a lot better about not being scammed.

I can’t wait for the new design. This design is getting old, but it doesn’t seem to bother a lot of us :)

Hey, have you guys checked out Flippa? I just heard about it (yeah, I’m slow) and it has a ton of websites for buying and selling. It looks like quite a marketplace. Check it out.

  8. Filipina Heart Blog July 3rd, 2009

You said “Industry literally begging for quality information on buy and selling websites” and I am one of them. I have been trying to learn, without much success, how to properly buy and sell your blog or site. I know the major company’s where to see them, but a lot of the more in-depth stuff ( like transferring the site once its sold ) remain a mystery to me. I will check out your site Buying & Selling Websites later on, thanks.

  9. Laura July 5th, 2009

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the site! And I have to point out that there’s a typo in predictable. Also, as a graphic designer, the composition bothers me a bit. The fact that the black menu bar is showing behind the logo in the middle is a bit awkward and makes the eye flicker back and forth rather than settling on your logo and tagline. My suggestion would be to move the logo down to where the black cannot be seen.

    Well, you asked!! :D

  10. Kyle July 5th, 2009

Laura, nice catch on predictable…I hadn’t even noticed. And the design has actually taken a somewhat different approach since that was posted, and I think you’ll like it when it’s all finished. In any event, thanks for your constructive critique – it’s always good to hear!

  13. Money Making Ideas July 17th, 2009

This is new to me that there is actually sites that teach people how to buy and sell websites. Anyway, I’m not going to get involved into buying and selling sites field yet, perhaps in future.

Anyway, your new design is cool, are you designing it yourself or get someone to design for you?

    -Davis-

  14. Kyle July 18th, 2009

@Davis – I actually did come up with the final design for the revision of BASW myself (perhaps that would be a good post at some point – how I did it). I took the foundation of a theme I liked and designed the site from there. It has a lot of custom features that most Wordpress Themes do not have, but I think it’s going to be pretty nice when it all comes together. It actually looks a good bit different from the first design I showed above.

  15. Jim Furr July 19th, 2009

    Hi,

I hope you are going to “expand” on that graphic.

What you have now is rather classy and helped attract me to BASW.

The above looks a little cartoon-ish to me, not indicative of
    your true content. .

I had a little bit of difficulty sorting it out, especially the
“the most predictable path to internet wealth” part.

    My 2 cents,

    Jim Furr >

  16. Kyle July 19th, 2009

Jim, I’m actually going to keep the logo, but I’m making it much more “understated” than the post above. I appreciate the feedback though, it’s nice to have constructive ideas from visitors and customers.

    I enjoyed this.

  18. storage ottoman July 22nd, 2009

Are you planning on including customer testimonials on the site? I’m interested in the course and would like to know what the current students think about it.

  19. Gardening ideas July 23rd, 2009

There are lots of them, but you should be very very careful when buying a website. There are many scams in the industry, as some people sell the same website with small changes over and over again (with different domains).

  20. Gardening ideas July 23rd, 2009

Therefore due-diligence is extremely important. A good practice is to use Copyscape before buying a website to check for plagiarism.

  21. Cash Back Cards July 25th, 2009

I agree that this is a great idea for a site. These days you read about site flipping all over the place, but there is little quality information for people looking to buy or sell a website. Best of luck with that project.

  22. How to Make Money Online July 27th, 2009

Hey, I’ve got a site that’s growing about 50% in traffic per week (it’s just geting some potent google juice), and am thinking about selling it sometime soon. It’s making about $10 per day right now… any threshold it should be earning before I sell it?

    Thanks!

  23. Kyle July 28th, 2009

@Shaun – If it’s consistently making $10/day ($300/month), that is a very respectable start. I would try to get it up to at least the $1,000 level (and have it stay/grow for a few months) before selling the site. Although, you can always sell a site based on any income level it currently has, I just personally like to see sites get to that floor of $1000 before considering to sell. Join us in BASW and you can learn a lot more about this :)

  24. Cash Back Cards July 28th, 2009

I agree. If the site is consistently making that much and growing, hold onto it to discover it’s true potential. It might be more worthwhile to keep it instead of selling it right away. You almost always make more in the long run by keeping the sites for yourself.

  25. Mr.Choice July 28th, 2009

Quite informative post about buying and selling websites.

Good Info and I will Keep This in my database

  27. Kyle July 28th, 2009

@Dave – Yes, there will be a “Success Stories” page. We’ve had students go on to buy and sell websites from $0 – $1,000,000+

  30. soccer August 5th, 2009

hi, apart from e-bay are there any other of this kind of site that are any good. I have stuff to sell but think e-bay is expensive. I am from the UK, if it helps.

I love to read your post here. I will be waiting for the next post in the smae topic. Thanks buddy. From Home Toronto Stager

  32. Analyzer August 12th, 2009

There are several other places to buy and sell websites. It seems like from a sellers standpoint, what you want is the place that has the most people looking. To go anywhere else would be like auctioning something somewhere other than ebay.

As far as the site goes, Are you planning on including customer testimonials on the site? I’m interested in the course and would like to know what the current students think about it.

  33. Kyle August 12th, 2009

@Analyzer, We do have some testimonials we’ve received since the 1.0 version of the course was released that we haven’t included yet, but you’ll notice on the sales page that there are a number of testimonials from students towards the bottom of the page. Did you see those? Is that what you were looking for?

  34. Dyski August 13th, 2009

Such database could be really great idea. Many people buy domain just to sell them later and many build sites and make them popular to earn much more money from selling. It’s just like selling houses or cars (used cars :P ). You are doing here great job, such things are needed and can help many web users to make their business here. Nice job in my opinion.

  35. magreet August 17th, 2009

WOW……nice post.I think this is a informative post about buying and selling websites.

  36. Foto Video August 26th, 2009

  37. Gardening ideas September 4th, 2009

Hello, I’m looking for websites like Craigslist where you can buy and sell to people locally with specific locations. So, if you know websites like these please tell me.

So…… a cottage industry has sprung up to sell it to the amatuer investor that knows little to nothing about this type of investment.

    me gusta su blog!

  40. wptidbits February 2nd, 2010

Such a great idea for a long term revenue. But its never easy to do. Still we need to spend some more time to make sure the site more valuable and profitable. Only after that we can sell. Anyway, buying and selling links of ad space would be very good alternative to give ongoing cash while waiting for the site to be sell. Excellent suggestion!

  41. Time Management February 7th, 2010

Buying and selling website this is very good concept to earning money. You are also ready to provide course material too this is also great info. This is also great information to join the training.
