I think you have a very good point – there is something to be said for
watching the direction that Economics guru head and heading in the other
direction as quickly as possible.

I suspect coursework and curriculum at most programs will have to find a way to deal with the financial / economic downturn and it’s implications for traditional economic and financial models that are borderline orthodoxy, including blogging.

The global recession is definitely affecting the way we do business, and when one starts looking at the basics, and the need to conserve energy at all costs one can recognise the inherent advantages and cost savings of online enterprise. The elimination of commuting to work is just a start, and add the lack of prime rental for retail outlets and you’ve got some damn good reasons for online business already.

It really sucks because a LOT of American businesses did everything wrong by opening a few chain doors on every single block. And if that isn’t bad, Walmart is opening in more and more locations just to close the local businesses down by their bargains.

I think the global recession is only a challenge for all of us to find effective solutions to stand up once again. Thus, in the internet world, the bad economy has been a great help to boost the online business even more because people are turning to internet marketing to seek for job or business.

@Scott – I couldn’t agree with you more: focus and a goal. Otherwise, it’s like shooting darts in the dark. By setting those smaller, more reasonable goals you increase your chance of achieving them. When you actually see results (be it making $10/day, or getting your first 50 unique visits per day), this will be the motivation you need to get to the next level. Think long term (how big do you want this business to be) but act short term (what can I do NOW to move me towards that ultimate goal).

thanks for sharing this good post. one can always surpass global financial crisis if he knows great strategies behind the methods of internet marketing.

If you massively promote your site it will gain a lot of visitors and leverage pr, driving traffic up and eventually turn viewers into paying customers.

You bring up excellent points. If you can prove profitable in a bad economic period, you may even be able to grow your business to a much bigger level than you even anticipate once things turn around.

If your website or idea is good, when people start spending money again, you might be able to achieve some capital for your business as well.

The wild west days of blogging is over. You need a focus and a goal. If you have both you will succeed.

One excellent blogger gave me some wonderful advice I believe in to this day. Don’t set huge goals, you will fail. Set attainable goals and never fail at those. If you keep setting and achieving those goals, you will go as far as you want to
