I tried this with other sites last year without success…this time….I did it,great tut!!

I need a sidebar left so I want to try that next.

I loved xenoria theme for years but now its widget too..superb.

I was looking for the logic on how to name multiple widget spaces, and found your article to be just what I needed. I particularly appreciated the last tip, about keeping the numbering convention in the dynamic_sidebar function in the theme files. I had been doing some testing with two different themes, and it had not even occurred to me that there was a way of preserving widget from theme to theme.

Is it possible to create the extra side bars and then have them show on sub pages only? I have a 2 side bar web site, but I’d like to display some additional information only on the sub pages. If you visit http://www.actusmr.com and blog.actusmr.com, you’ll see that the information is the same on both. I’d like to customize what shows on the blog.actusmr.com. Is this something you can help with?

You mention that ‘The example above includes the parameter 2 so Sidebar 2 is called’ however I cannot find the parameter in the example. Is there a mistake or am I missing something? thanks

Probably no one commented on this because it was too damn good or technical. This is actually an excellent tutorial on how to add sidebars to any wordpress theme, whether it originally has 1 sidebar or several. Kudos to you!
