Man, time really does fly when you’re having fun. Can you believe the Blogging Experiment is now two weeks old? It’s been a busy couple of weeks for sure. Just to recap things quickly for readers who might just be joining us, I launched the Blogging Experiment on Independence Day and the goal is to have this site generating a full time income by the 4th of July next year so that I can declare my independence from the typical 9 to 5 (aren’t I clever). More importantly, I’ll be documenting every single move I make. Whether it’s installing a plugin, signing up for an ad network, or tweaking a WordPress setting, I’ll be sharing it all with you, my loyal readers.
Thus far the traffic numbers are fairly typical (in my experience) of a brand new blog. I received a nice spike in traffic from StubleUpon last week but aside from that one day burst, I’ve had about 30 visitors a day. Like I said, it’s nothing to write home about. However, one number that is VERY encouraging to me is the 26 subscribers I’ve gained in really just a single week of promoting the site.
In terms of making money, I’m still at square one. I’m running ebay on the site through the AuctionAds system and have had over 1100 impressions, however I’ve only had 4 clicks and so far, none of them have resulted in any income. I’m planning on sticking with AuctionAds at least for another 1000 impressions. After that I’ll probably switch them out strictly for testing purposes. There are a lot of other ad networks I’d like to try out and only a limited amount of space I’m willing to give up for ads.
So, there you have it. As I said it’s been a busy two weeks and overall I’m pretty pleased. As I mentioned before, it’s been a long time since I launched a site without leveraging one of my existing sites. While it would have been nice to have instant exposure and some quality links, it’s been fun getting back to the basics and starting from scratch.

1Hi Ben
I have been using Auction Ads for a couple of weeks now, at first I had a similar experience to you, then I started looking at the types of auctions I was featuring and changed them to make sure they were more targetted to my site and to current trends.
I have started earning money from this on a regular basis, it may be worth you looking into the types of auctions you are featuring to see if you can improve the revenue.
Good luck with the site it certainly does make interesting reading
